On Tue, 30 September, 2014 - 21:53
viriyalila
All are welcome to join us for our weekly Sangha Night, every Wednesday, 7 - 9 pm. This month we’ll be going deeper in our practice with a focus on meditation, specifically the Brahma Viharas.
We’ll start the month off on October 1st with a led meditation followed by small groups to discuss meditation practice. We will get into the problems, victories, and particular techniques in our practices and utilize our shared experience.
October 8 Metta ~ Loving-kindness
October 15 Karuna ~ Compasion
October 22 Mudita ~ Sympathetic Joy
October 29 Upeksha ~ Equanimity
How do we cultivate these positive states of mind? What are they? What are they not? We will be exploring the nature of these sublime emotions by means of meditation, poetry, reflective exercises, and discussion. We will pay particular attention to finding our razor’s edge, our doorway into deepening our understanding of the nature of reality.
Offered by donation, $10-5. 84 Pleasant Street, 2nd Floor, Downtown Portsmouth.
