The Jewel in the Lotus: a course on the Bodhisattva Ideal for women+
Three Sundays: April 3, May 1, June 5; 12:30-3 pm

The perspective of Mahayana Buddhism is based in the Bodhisattva Ideal, namely the attainment of Buddhahood for the benefit of all beings. In this 3-session Level 2 course we will hear parables from the Lotus Sutra to explore themes from the Bodhisattva Ideal including the arising of the Bodhicitta (the will to enlightenment) and the Six Paramitas (Perfections) which are the practices of generosity, ethics, patience, energy, meditation, and wisdom.

April 3: The Mahayana Perspective and the Parable of the Burning House
May 1: The Myth of the Return Journey and Symbols of Life and Growth
June 5:  The Symbolism of the Stupa and The Jewel in the Lotus
