We have two opportunities to learn traditional Buddhist meditations this month. These meditations lead to greater calmness and sensitivity, deeper levels of relaxation, transform negative emotions into positive ones, and help keep all things in perspective. These meditations are suitable for all levels of experience and one does not need to be a Buddhist to practice these.
Thursdays, January 8-29, 7-9 pm - Four Week Meditation Course In this four-week course you will be introduced to the practice of an ancient Buddhist meditation that develops mindfulness through maintaining awareness of the breath.
Topics covered will include:
• finding an alert and comfortable meditation posture • body awareness • how to work with the mind in meditation • how to maintain a regular and effective practice • how to maintain mindfulness off the cushion • higher states of consciousness
By donation ($80-$40 suggested for the four weeks)
Saturday, January 10, 10-1 pm - Day Workshop introducing Mindfulness of Breathing Come and learn a foundational mindfulness meditation practice that you can build on and deepen for years to come. Offered by donation, $40-20.
