Rivendell was established by the Croydon Buddhist Centre and began running retreats in 1986. Since that time it has become a much-loved retreat centre, serving the Triratna community, offering beautiful retreat conditions that can be deeply transformative.

Our team is looking for someone who wants to create community and offer a deeper experience of the Three Jewels to those coming on retreat.

The team at Rivendell currently consists of 2 Dharmacharis and 1 Dharmacharini and two training for ordination mitras. We are seeking an order member or training for ordination mitra who has the willingness and aptitude to take on one or more of the following areas of responsibility. Relevant experience and skills are welcomed but someone with suitable transferable skills and adaptability will be given full
consideration.

• kitchen management including menu planning, organising volunteer cooks, food ordering and stock control
• bookkeeping/ financial administration
• office administration and office reception
• maintenance skills – e.g. building work, carpentry, plumbing etc
• gardening/ woodland management including the use of garden machinery

The role is open to persons of all gender identities. We require good communication skills, an ability to take responsibility and initiative, to work co-operatively and harmoniously with others. This includes participation in team days and team retreats including two working retreats per year. There is a requirement to provide cover for the centre when retreats are running including fire warden duties. This responsibility is shared with other team members.

All roles require a willingness to contribute to a variety of different tasks around the retreat centre, consequently, there is a need for you to be generally physically fit. Experience of community living and/or TBRL is helpful but not essential.

Rivendell is on the edge of the beautiful Ashdown Forest and the High Weald countryside of East Sussex. It’s located 40 minutes by car from both Brighton and Eastbourne and London by train is 1 hour 10 minutes away. The nearest large Triratna centres are Brighton and then Croydon. More local sangha connections can also be made in Tunbridge Wells and Eastbourne.

Given Rivendell’s location you will need to hold a clean driving licence.

This is a new part-time role (2 days per week), currently held by Dhammamegha, who steps down at the end of April.

The role includes commissioning new works, liaising with authors at the various stages of writing, undertaking a wide range of editorial activities, and representing Windhorse Publications at important Triratna events, such as the Chairs meeting (see full job description). 
 
We are looking for someone to work the equivalent of 2 days per week at a salary of up to £29K FTE. • Arranging for and meeting with tradespeople and council/fire safety inspectors when needed at the centre or Vijayaloka.

Then we’d love to hear from you!We are looking for people who want to cook at the Buddhafield Total Immersion retreat with Paramananda from 14th - 30th May 2025. The retreat is titled ‘Dwelling in the World’s Soul’. We’re also open to enquires about cooking on other Buddhafield retreats in 2025. You will be given recipes, with quanties already calculated, your travel will be covered and you’ll be supported by our experienced team.By volunteering as a cook with us, you would have the chance to take part in the special magic that is a Buddhafield retreat and support retreatants to immerse themselves in Paramananda’s teaching and the natural beauty of Bowerwood, Buddhafield’s land in North Devon. You’ll get to participate in a fair part of the retreat, cooking dinner and lunch the following day and then having a full day off. There is also the option to cook for one half of the two week retreat and sit the other half an a full retreatant. The bluebells will be out in May and there is also the opportunity to visit the site and familiarise yourself with the kitchen in April at our team gathering (drop in any time between 14th and 20th April). We are looking for cooks who have experience of participating in silent retreats and several years meditation experience. One space available immediately in Kalyanaloka – Bristol’s Buddhist community for women and non-binary people. Current residents are three GFR Mitras aged 28 – 37 with strong connections in the Bristol sangha. Between us we work and study in a variety of health and environmental settings.

Spacious room available in our four bed (plus shrine room!) house that has a rich legacy of being a Triratna community for around eight years. Five minutes walk from Bristol Buddhist Centre, just off the vibrant Gloucester Road, and a good public transport hub for the rest of Bristol.

Marketing Manager: create effective communications that increase attendance by newcomers and Friends at WLBC classes, courses and retreats, as well as encourage regulars to deepen their engagement with our path of training. 

Fundraising Manager: develop and implement a fundraising strategy that increases regular giving, cultivates relationships with major donors, and optimises fundraising efforts through classes, events, and digital campaigns.

Finance Officer: support Tejamati as Finance Director in keeping accurate and timely financial records of all the Centre’s financial activities.

Windhorse Publications is looking for a new part-time (12 hours p/w) accountant to join our small, dynamic and creative team.

We are looking for an Order member or dedicated Mitra with great enthusiasm for team-based right livelihood (TBRL) and the work we do: publishing life changing Dharma books. They will be taking over a well-managed and documented finance role, with responsibility for  managing the bookkeeping and accounts functions for Windhorse Publications. 

This part-time accounts role involves paying expenses, wages, monthly bookkeeping using Quickbooks, bank reconciliation and producing monthly cashflow reports. Other duties include running quarterly VAT returns, Gift Aid submissions, annual payment of royalties, and producing annual accounts. The accountant also inputs the annual budgeting process. 

Applicants should have experience in bookkeeping and producing annual statuary accounts. Good spreadsheet skills and knowledge of VLOOKUP and pivot tables are also important, and applicants would preferably hold an accounts qualification (at least AAT).

The part-time role is 12 hours per week and fully remote, with flexibility as to when the hours are worked across the week. Our weekly online TBRL meeting is on Tuesday mornings, and we try to have at least one in-person gathering in the UK each year.

We are looking for someone who is inspired by the Dhanakosa project and would like to live and work as part of our on-site community team. This is a great opportunity to try community living and team-based right-livelihood, and ideal for someone currently, or considering, training for ordination within Triratna. 

The role is supporting the Office and the Kitchen - you’ll work approximately 2 days/week as part of the Office team covering reception and bookings, 2 days/week supporting the Kitchen Manager with cooking and administration, and 1 day/week on shared team tasks, including weekly cleaning at retreat changeover. Some practical experience with vegan cooking and office/customer service work is needed, and we can support you to develop these skills further. 

You will be living and working in wild and beautiful Scotland, helping provide conditions for 1,000 people a year to meet the Dharma. You'll be joining a mixed gender community of Order Members and GFR Mitras, all deeply committed to Bhante's radical vision of work as practice to transform self and world. The Operations Team is primarily (but not exclusively) a training context for those seeking ordination with Triratna. For Order Members there is also the opportunity to develop retreat leading/teaching skills.

Dhanakosa has been creatively restructuring our working teams and rethinking support.  We are now looking for committed Order Members to join our Senior Team with our most flexible and robust support package yet. 

The Dhanakosa Senior Team is a group of Order Members who work together to deliver the organisational, spiritual, and strategic leadership of the Dhanakosa Trust. The Senior Team work primarily across six key work areas; organisational management, financial management, operational management, delivery of projects, spiritual leadership, retreat leading quality and content.  Individual members of the team normally specialise in two or three areas and the whole team co-works extensively, and engage in study together, and peer review.  

For this recruitment, we are prioritising people who are interested in working in House and Grounds Team management and Project Delivery.

Flexibility is built into Senior Team support to accommodate a range of different living situations.  Those who wish to live in the Dhanakosa community will be offered our standard support package, or, for those opting to live out of community there is a more flexible support package depending on living situation. For most people our calculators will deliver a pre-tax income to the value of between £28,000 to £34,000 a year for those living out.

Would you like to lead Windhorse Publications through the changing world of independent publishing and the growth of Triratna? After five years, Dhammamegha will be stepping down as publishing director in the new year. This is an exciting and varied role for an Order Member interested in communicating the Dharma through books and other media, and with the skills to lead a small, dynamic and creative business.

The job includes elements of leadership, management, fundraising and creative work in communication, as well as commissioning new work and undertaking a wide range of editorial activities. A fuller Job Description is available as a download.

There are several ways in which the role could be configured, so we are looking for someone to work between 3 and 5 days per week. There will be ongoing support from the Trustees, Editorial board and current team.

Manchester Buddhist Centre is entering a new and exciting phase. Working with our new Chair, Lokeshvara, the MBC Trustees have recently concluded we will have to move from our current premises and find a new home for our sangha. We have set a two year time frame on making this transition. You will be very much involved in helping us make this transition.

Our sangha is lively and engaged, with an increasing number of young women getting involved. We have 86 women mitras, 45 of whom have asked for ordination. There are 55 Dharmacharinis around the Manchester Centre. There is a women's Mitra Convening Kula comprising five Dharmacharinis, who support the work of the Mitra Convenor. You would work closely with this kula, ensuring the spiritual welfare of the women within our sangha.

As Mitra Convenor, you would:

• work closely with the Chair and Men's Mitra Convenor
• join the Trustees of the MBC charity
• join the Heart Kula - comprising of Chair, Mitra Convenors and Centre Team, overseeing the organisational responsibility of the Centre

The role is permanent and 28 hours per week:

• pay is on an hourly rate of £11.44 (minimum wage increases will apply in 2025)
• retreat allowance of £1,596 per year (on 28 hours a week)
