Hilary Barclay becomes Vajracetana (long final ‘a’), A Sanskrit name meaning ‘She whose purpose is diamond like’.
Westernised (registered) spelling: Vajrachetana

Christine Cather becomes Suvarnasri (dot under the ’n’, accent over the ’s’ and long ‘i’). A Sanskrit name meaning ‘Golden Light’.

We’re delighted to let you know that three public ordinations took place at the LBC on Thursday 6th May. Following the ordinations at Adhisthana earlier this week, these are the second of three public ordination ceremonies for women on this one retreat.

We are delighted to announce that five public ordinations took place at Adhisthana this afternoon. Four of the five new dharmacarinis were due to be ordained in 2020, but the Covid crisis has meant that several different plans for their ordination retreat had to be cancelled. He also gives several talks a year in a similar slot on Radio Wales.  The BBC recently asked him to do a series of talks in their ‘Prayer for the Day’ slot - a slot which has come into its own in the last year as issues in the news have have directly impacted everyone’s lives.

The Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Cultural Institute (ITBCI) School was established 67 years ago by the previous Dhardo Rimpoche, one of Sangharakshita’s main teachers, to protect Tibetan and Himalayan Art and Culture. In late December 2020 Karuna Trust, who funds 60% of the school’s overall budget, was informed that the Trustees of the ITBCI in Kalimpong, which is now led by the new Dhardo Rimpoche, had made the decision to close the school in December 2021.

We are delighted to announce that ex-Paul Klein of Cuernavaca, Mexico was publicly ordained on Saturday, January 16 and given the name Moksharati, he who delights in liberation.
