Buddhavajra writes from Triratna’s land in Bodhgaya, historic place of the Buddha’s Enlightenment, saying - “This is the busiest time of the year for us in Bodh Gaya, with many visitors and many activities taking place on our land - where there are now two thriving communities. In January we had our first NVC (‘Non-Violent Communication’) retreat led by Shantigarbha, it was a great success. It was followed by a free, two day, retreat attended by 160 local people, during which 15 people became mitras.

In February, Subhuti led a five day retreat for Dharmacharinis and women mitras. And now I have just led a three day retreat with Dridhakarin, my friend from Cambridge UK, for 23 people (see picture), during which four retreatants became mitras. The exciting news is that we now have over 40 mitras from Bihar! So our work here is bearing fruit.

On our land we now have a women’s community of six, which started 7 months ago, and a longstanding men’s community, also of six. Khemin, from Norwich, was recently here for a month leading one day retreats and teaching meditation and English to the communities - his Kalyana Mitrata was much appreciated. So a big thank you to all who have supported us and especially to Nissoka whose vision has made this possible.

If you wish to come and visit us and contribute in some way by teaching English, meditation, Dharma or helping lead retreats you are most welcome. Please contact me at buddhavajra [at] Donations are always welcome, please visit our fundraising page at”.
