This morning Steve Hornby, a mitra at Manchester Buddhist Centre, UK, started his ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.
He’s raising money for Dhanakosa Retreat Centre’s Development Fund. The money will enable the redecoration of the retreat centre this winter, a new office and meeting space and a new (second hand) Land Rover. It will also help them continue to provide retreats by donation rather than charging. Sponsor Steve.
Steve writes: “I first visited Dhanakosa in 2014 for a hillwalking retreat and it had a profound effect on my life. Having made many positive changes and become a mitra, I want to raise money to help other people experience the magic of Dhanakosa.”
Steve’s target is to raise £5,895 (the height of the mountain in metres). The walk will take 10 days: 9 days up; 1 day down!
Dhanakosa writes: “Dhanakosa provides over 1000 retreat places per year to anyone, regardless of faith, race, nationality or ability to pay; without judgement.”
