Karmavajra writes from India with the sad news of the death of Dhammachari Abhayabhadra, saying - “Dhammachari Abhayabhadra (from Pune, India) passed away on 3rd June 2013 at around 10.30 PM. He was 51 at the time of his death. His Kalyanamitras Amrutdeep and Maitreyanath were both around him at the time of his death. He was sick for more than two months, He had gall bladder surgery in March but since then he did not recover fully. He was not able to take solid food for a long time which made him very weak; eventually he had major health problems. He was hospitalized yesterday noon and in the late afternoon he had a heart attack, but he was declared dead by 10.30. He left behind his wife who is an Order Member (Dhammacharini Shantida) and one son. He was ordained on 25th March 1993 by Dh.Subhuti. For the last 20 years he worked with our Bahujan Hitay Social project and engaged in Dhamma spreading work”.
And Vandanajyoti from Triratna’s Karuna Trust has asked us to share their tribute to Abhayabhadra, saying - “This dear man was a much loved colleague to many of us and I’ve worked with him on every visit to India since 2006 - every training meeting, and most journeys too. He will be very much mourned and we in Karuna and the hostel movement will miss his smiling, warm presence at our meetings and training sessions”.
