Space in a community in Hastings - join us by the sea this summer! On Mon, 23 May, 2022 - 13:23
Hi, we’re Rowan, Frances and Dhammamegha and we are looking for someone to join us in our community in Hastings. This is a new and mini community inhabiting two next-door terraced houses on a very quiet, residential road on the edge of Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve and 15 mins walk from the sea. The houses are separate (whilst the gardens are joined), with Frances and Rowan (a couple), living and working in one house and currently Dhammamegha living and working in the other. We meditate together every morning, have a meal together each week and often go to Sangha night together, but otherwise live fairly independently, so it’s a sort of community-lite situation! Our intention is to live in a less nuclear way and practice with other Buddhists and create a homely and friendly space. We have also been developing a permaculture garden with two greenhouses and multiple beds, with the vision of producing enough fruit and veg for our community and living as sustainably as we can, so we would be keen to find someone who would like to collaborate in this project too. Our two young cats are also part of the community, living with Frances and Rowan but they love to hang out with everyone.
The room available is a large, south-east facing double room overlooking the back gardens and trees beyond. It is extremely peaceful. The house also has a sunny living-room, kitchen and shower room. The front of the house overlooks a no-through road and a beautiful willow tree and the valley/Clive Vale area of Hastings. The room is £400 plus bills and council tax, which equate to approx. £170/month per person.
We are looking for someone to join us straight away/as soon as possible for a period of 6 months with a good possibility of extending beyond that timeframe. We also welcome shorter lets, with a minimum of 2 months. Please get in touch if this is something that interests you and if you are a Mitra, an Order Member or a committed Buddhist by emailing frances.crowley [at] gmail.com.
