A beautiful aspect of the International Gathering of 2014 was the collective and collaborative creation of a beautiful backdrop to the shrine.

We are lucky to Sarah Jones, the artist, come back to the Gathering this year to help create something just as beautiful, with the plan to involve as many people as possible help make it! Except that she will not be called ‘Sarah Jones’ anymore as at this very moment she is at Akashavana, the women’s ordination retreat centre, and will be back in August with a new name!

Here is a link to her website if you want to find out about the work Sarah creates, and I’ve also attached some photos from the last wonderful creation from 2014.

As someone who loves textiles both the making and adorning, this sounds wonderful.  A lot of batik is worked on silk which is not an ethical yarn, can I check what fabric she-who-was-Sarah will be using?

Hi Srivandana, thanks for asking and good to hear from you!

I don’t know what material is used, but you can ask her - her name is now Akashalila, so you will find her name on the order address list xxx
