What is an ‘anagarika’? Why practice celibacy as a way to cultivate freedom from life’s entanglements? A brace of discussions with women at Adhisthana during the first Triratna Anagarika Convention, each between two experienced members of the Order who have taken that extraordinary step as a support to their practice of contentment as the basis for a fulfilled spiritual life.

For more on this subject, see writings on celibacy

Listen to Suvarnaprabha speak about her decision to take this step before her recent death

I would have loved to hear the conversation from the Anagarika convention, as I could not make it there, but it does not show on the buddhistcentre community. There is only a blank space . And I don’t want to take a subscription to all the podcast. Can it be found on FBA too?

Hi Sobhanandi, alas we woke today to discover that Audioboo’s own site has been having trouble all night. They power our embedded audio episodes so it won’t reappear here until it’s been fixed at their end. Happily though you can listen to it (and the follow-up) at their fallback site: www.audioboo.com/thebuddhistcentre

These should all be working again. Do support [at] thebuddhistcentre.com (let us know) if you have any trouble…

Audioboo still seems to be having problems with playing the files whether via thebuddhistcentre or on their own page.

Hi Padmakumara, thanks for letting us know. It seems to be working ok right now but we’ll keep tabs on it… Just to check, have you refreshed the page?

Hi Candradasa

Yes, it has been working on my mobile phone, though audioboo restarted a number of times, playing the interview one, after I’d pressed the pause button (it may usually do this as a matter of course).
