And since we just posted Natalie Willmer’s excellent talk on the Karaniya Metta Sutta, here’s a beautiful recording of it! It’s the classic Buddhist source-text for Metta, or Loving-Kindness - and the theme of the upcoming Triratna Urban Retreat.

It was chanted in Pali by Joe Richardson at the end of Triratna’s 2012 International Retreat, as the Buddhafield team gathered under canvas at the end of the retreat. We’ve remastered it here and are reposting the improved audio to mark the Urban Retreat and, well, because it’s lovely!

Thank you for posting this.  It is gorgeous.  Thank you Joe!   We are planning to use it tomorrow for our practice day for Kent and Sussex sanghas.

Btw. The link for the Urban retreat seems to lead only to something about the 2015 retreat!

May all of you be well and happy.

Hi Nagarakshita. Glad you enjoyed! Yes, this post was actually made way back at the dawn of The Buddhist Centre Online itself in 2013! 🙂 Hence the link to ‘join’ the next Urban Retreat, then scheduled for 2015. We’ve updated the text now so it’s a bit clearer. 🙏🏻
