Our December FBA Podcasts and Dharmabytes bring us into the realm of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

Our first FBA Dharmabyte is titled “Tara – The Quintessence of Compassion” by Sangharakshita. From a thorough and thought-provoking talk explaining the Bodhisattva Path we are introduced to several Bodhisattvas, and in this excerpt we meet Tara. From the talk “The Bodhisattva Hierarchy” given in 1969. This talk is part of The Aspects of the Bodhisattva Ideal series - not to be missed!

And then on Saturday we released our FBA Podcast dedicated to Tara with the talk titled: Mindfulness As the Great Love (White Tara)”. This talk was given by Vajratara at Sangha Night, Sheffield Buddhist Centre (28th August 2007), about the symbolism of White Tara, as part of a series on Stories and Symbols.

Our Dharmabytes then took our love of Tara a little further with a short tribute to “The Bodhisattva Tara” by Kamalashila. From a series about the final mantras of the sevenfold puja, Kamalashila talks about the birth and significance of the bodhisattva Tara.

Then, we went on to meet Amitabha in the next FBA Dharmabyte titled “The Jewel of the Mandala”, an excerpt from the fourth talk in a six-part series on the figures on the Wheel of Life. Saddhaloka introduces us to Amitabha, the red Buddha of the West who represents and inspires the highest love of all…
Talk given at Padmaloka Retreat Centre, winter retreat, 1997.

Taking our fascination with the Red Buddha even further, we brought you Gazing at the Setting Sun” in our next FBA Podcast. In this previously unreleased talk by Dhammadinna, we take a look at the process of joining the Triratna (Western) Buddhist Order in the sunset light of Amitabha, the red Buddha of the West.
Talk given in 2000 at a Triratna National Order Weekend.

Bringing Bhante into the conversation, we hear “The Qualities of Amitabha” in our next Dharmabyte. Here, Sangharakshita gives voice to the poetic Buddhist scripture The Larger Sukhavativyuha Sutra describing the wonderful Pureland of the Buddha Amitabha.
