Day Five was a 13 mile stretch, of wildflowers and familiar landscapes, arriving (or rather, skipping…) into Ratnadharini’s hometown of Abingdon, where she is visiting her mum for a rest day tomorrow. Day four - Henley to Wallingford; a mere 12.5 miles, mainly on beautiful tracks through beech woods. The final section was along the chalky Ridgeway path; I’m familiar with other sections, but not this one - which is accompanied by the prehistoric Grim’s Ditch. Day Two: Shepperton to Windsor (although I’m actually staying across the bridge in Eton) - still following the Thames. ‘Only’ 14.5 miles, but it felt as strenuous as yesterday’s 17; so I’m nervous about tomorrow’s 18. I’ll start early, but there’s no avoiding the heat. I’ve got a great rain/sun hat, and am carrying lots of water. Really appreciate the video messages from friends!
