About the series

We are well into the second year of the pandemic and life keeps presenting us with plenty of material to practise with.

Tonglen can help transforming our emotional challenges. We use the breath to turn towards suffering, usually first our own, and eventually to that of others. We gently engage with suffering and develop trust and the confidence to open up to it. In this way our pain turns into something more expansive, intimate, rich, beautiful and deeply compassionate.

As with any practice, we need to put time and effort into it to get skilled. We need to play and experiment. We need to fall and rise again, with the breath.

This series offers a framework for familiarising yourself with tonglen, learning different ways of engaging with this meditation.

By turning towards the suffering in the world with curiosity and kindness, we support ourselves, people around us and ultimately the world.
