The handbook explains the theme: Climate Action - Personal Action. It suggests Buddhist ways of engaging with the theme and thinking about climate change, including avoiding polarisation. There are suggestions of personal and group actions, and other groups that you can join with.
Buddhist Action Month: (BAM!) is an annual festival of Buddhist social action. It started in Britain in 2012 and has since spread out across Europe and beyond. Social action is one of the manifestations of METTA, the strong intention to create Loving Kindness for all, which is embodied in the desire to act for the benefit of the world. Practising this is at the heart of everything we do in the Triratna Buddhist Community.
Triratna’s European Chairs’ Assembly employs me both as Triratna’s ‘Liaison officer’, responsible for co-operation with other Buddhist traditions, mainly in Europe. In that capacity I attend meetings of the European Buddhist Union and the Network of Buddhist Organisations UK.
Many thanks to Sanghadhara for creating this Dharma Doors mega-poster for the International Practice Week: Turning Arrows Into Flowers (22-29 September 2018)
You’ll see 2 options, one for A4 paper size, one for ‘Letter’ as used in the USA etc. The pdf has 8 pages, each with the front doors of 6 Triratna Centres, and which join together to form a lovely symbol of our international Sangha (see IPW overview picture).
