Running into week 5 with full vigour. It's hard to keep up with all the activity. Lots of final preparations to the roof surface for the rubber membrane to be fitted this week (weather permitting) There was a fear this week that Storm Doris would stop us in our tracks, but, even Doris couldn't deter our brilliant builders. When they couldn't work on the roof, they came inside and continued with the insulation for the inner shrine walls and started removing fittings from the loos. Even though it was a bit alarming to see all the wires and holes in the walls and ceilings, we did take advantage of this. Sangha members wrote blessings on paper, which were rolled into scrolls and placed in a box. The box went into the roof above where the shrine will be, and we had several mini Buddha Rupas which have now been placed within the fabric of the building. Long may they remain. By Friday, we were blessed with gorgeous sunshine, so it was all hands on decks (well roofs!) to lay the rubber membrane. The hard work paid off as by the end of Friday, the majority of the roof was covered and new velux windows were in place. With the plasterer and the window fitters arriving next week, looks like full steam ahead.
With the relaunch of our Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Appeal, we sent out messages through social media about the need to raise a further £20,000. We've made this easier by setting up our charity for the Paypal Giving Fund, which allows donations to be gift aided and reduces fees for all transactions. We've also signed up to Ebay for Charities. This enables anyone buying or selling on Ebay, to donate funds directly to us, and also sell items to benefit the charity. Check out the links here
