Last week some of us were on retreat with Bodhipaksa. He’s a Scotsman who has been an ordained member of our Buddhist order for many years and has written a number of books around the area of meditation and the integration of it into living a peaceful and happy life.

He currently lives in New Hampshire USA from where he runs the online Wildmind Meditation Community
www.wildmind.org

During one of the sessions he took with us he talked about drifting away from the object of meditation during a sitting practice and described the moment of regaining awareness as ‘waking up’

I liked this and it’s a nice parallel to The Buddha describing enlightenment itself as a process of waking up!

When we calm down, practice compassion for self and other we do wake up. We come alive in a very vibrant and beautiful way.

I hope you can join us for meditation this week:

Thursday   7 - 8.30 pm

Sunday     8 - 9 am

Much metta
Dharmalata and on behalf of Padmadakini
