Training the Mind
On Tue, 26 August, 2014 - 12:04
Dhammalata
To meditate is to train the mind. We all accept that one must train the body if we are to be an athlete or even simply enjoy a fit and well body that can serve our needs. And we accept that to play a musical instrument well and thereby provide joy to self and others one must put in many hours of practice…
Well meditation is no different. Consider these verses the Buddha spoke from the Dhatuvibhangha Sutta:
”One should not neglect wisdom, should preserve truth, should cultivate relinquishment, and should train for peace.”
The Buddha said that the end result of practice is consciousness that is equanimous, purified, bright, malleable, wieldy and radiant ……
Meditating with others is a very powerful way of developing and supporting a meditation practice.
I encourage you to come and join us for meditation.
