Dear Coogee Meditators

I am really pleased that Arthacarya is coming to lead our meditation sit this Thursday night. Arthacarya is one of our Sydney Based male order members and apart from being a clear and experienced Buddhist teacher is just a very nice fella into the bargain.

He has a great deal of expertise and experience in the field of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and trains people regularly in this. After the sit he will share a little of this field with us and field questions.

I’ve included some information below that he asked me to include in this email.

Secular Mindfulness Courses (MBSR/MBCT) - An Introduction

The evening will provide an introduction to the principles and practices of these popular 8 week courses. We will also introduce two principle “insight” practices taught on the course “moving towards acceptance” and “mindfulness of sounds and thoughts”.

Dean (Dharmacari Arthacarya) has been teaching MBSR and MBSR for the last 2 years. He trained on the Masters course in “Mindfulness Based Approaches” at Bangor University Wales. He has been ordained within the Triratna Buddhist Order for 12 years and has been teaching meditation for 15 years within the Buddhist tradition. He now teaches at Millers Point, (nr Sydney CBD) see mindfulness-sydney.com

We will be doing the metta practice this week and also a reminder to those in our dharma study group that we meet at Gina’s and my house this Sunday between 9 and 10.30 am (breakfast supplied)

Meditations on Thursday nights will continue throughout the Christmas and New Year’s period
