Dear Fellow Meditators
Every week I sit down to write this midweek inspiration (hopefully) and I wonder whether a groovy little quote profound words of wisdom from someone will help …..
And then part of me just says ‘you know that changing yourself is a fine art and you just have to be both committed and intrinsically interested; you can dress it up and make it sound appealing but at the end of the day you do it or you don’t …..’
Meditative practice is not easy to establish for most of us; for me to be really regular and committed took many years actually. And I am pleased to say that now at the ripe old age of 55 I have the best practice I’ve ever had – up at 4.50 am and my iPhone meditation app rings me through a 45 minute session every day!
It’s deeply interesting and gratifying to watch as my practice has gathers momentum. It feels like I am starting to shift things in (as Sangharakshita has termed it) the deepest seat of my consciousness. Bits of my being are coming alive and some of my very fundamental urges and habits are coming into a sharper focus meaning I can apply more creativity around them; it is liberating to not be a slave to one’s mind …..
And here’s a cool kicker; the more you share your practice (as I do via the Coogee Meditation Group and stepping up to a management role at The Sydney Buddhist Centre) the more support and inspiration there is for my own development; the old cliché proving true that the more we give away the richer we become ….
Hope you can join us for The Mindfulness of Breathing Practice on Thursday at 7 pm
We will ‘Buddha-riff’ around ‘Meditation and Personal Relationships’ this week after the sit
And Don’t forget meditation every Sunday morning 8 – 9 am now
