Yesterday evening Gina took me to Sculpture by the Sea. And there I saw these beautiful stupas painted by the setting sun ………
Stupa is the name given to structures like this found all over the Buddhist world. They were created by the Buddha himself when he was asked by his disciples how they might remember him when he was gone. He folded a robe, placed his alms bowl on top and said that was a symbol to represent him and his teachings.
There are many layers of meaning to a stupa; one is the refining of one’s consciousness as we move from broad base energies to increasingly heightened and refined ones. At a moment like last night they were to me a reminder of my love of everything the Buddha, his teachings and followers have brought to me.
I hope you can join us for meditation this week and for a farewell dinner and puja for Vi next Tuesday night. So …..
