Love Mode Power Mode

On Monday nights at the Sydney Buddhist Centre we’ve been studying a book entitled ‘Not About Being Good’. It is an exploration of Buddhist Ethics.


It’s written by one of our women order members. In the chapter we looked at last night she was sharing the idea of operating from the Love Mode as opposed the Power Mode. The basic premise is that the more we can get along with and cooperate with people in a spirit of kindness and concern as opposed to getting our own way by dint of force, status or manipulation the better. 


She also brought out the idea that when we operate in this kindly, ethical way we experience a lightness of being; we sit with ourselves more happily and comfortably. 
Doing metta (kindness) practice gently and authentically from our heart centre is the best way I know of to orientate myself this way.
