I’m reading ‘Mind in Harmony’ by Subhuti at the moment. Much of what he writes hits me right between the eyes in a very positive way:
“Contentment is the positive that drives out craving, …… . We may experience the early stirrings of contentment simply as revulsion from craving, for a sensitive mind eventually starts to feel humiliated by its own craving. One experiences a loss of dignity, a feeling that one is demeaning oneself, a recognition that craving is a kind of involuntary slavery, ….”
Involuntary slavery; brilliant! My own desire for all sorts of things leads me around like a pig with a nose ring …………..
And how do I get free? I meditate and I practice ethics ………. I associate with like-minded friends and when I stumble I do my best to own up, take responsibility and do better next time
Hope you can meditate with us this week:
