Thank you so much for that. I think that one of my biggest stumbling blocks in practice and life is developing self compassion. I find it easy to develop, hold and extend compassion to others and not so easy for myself. I think this is the root of my fears. I found that excerpt you read really profound and moving. I have written it down and will use it myself. It made me cry tears of joy and vunerable softness.

It also dawned on me while watching your video that you and all the other sangha members are like the Buddhas in the quote. You all make me less afraid and bathe me in compassion. Your short video did just that, as do my spiritual friendships with sangha members. Perhaps if I can remember that when I am afraid, I will also feel the warmth and light of this golden sutra.

Just listened to this before seeing my first patient this morning. Really helped, I’m feeling pushed well outside my spiritual ‘comfort zone’ already this week, so it’s great to feel I’m not the only one! Thanks

Thank you Kayvyasiddhi, that was great. Sounds a bit simplistic I know but I found it quite strong just seeing the film of you, a ‘real buddhist’ in the ‘real world’ at your desk, going about your ‘real life’, and being so present about your experience. Wonderful example of how to let go of defending and just be open about what’s going on, how we can integrate our practice xx

Yes, what a poignant, ‘real-deal’ expression of practice and devotion! Work is also for me (all the time!) the richest place to practice. So quick, the temptation to get reactive to pressures. Fantasy arguments have also been a big working ground for me. At various times I have to make strong resolutions to catch it quick and STOP–not so easily sometimes–they are so delicious and addictive. I had to make a saying for myself to repeat: [mock stern voice] “Ok, now, remember the agreement: No arguing with people who are not physically present. That.way.lies.madness.” It works because then I see the absurdity and start laughing. Not that I do these out loud–my poor neighbors!–it’s loud enough in my head!
