Lockdown rules are changing for some of us. So perhaps there’s not quite so much staying at home involved this month’s Stay at Home Sale. We have chosen a range of books to offer resources and inspiration in this transition time.
To continue the ‘For the Earth’ theme of Buddhist Action Month, we’ve got what I think is the only one of our books to be written by a vet. Bodhipaksa’s Vegetarianism: A Buddhist View, is reduced to £5.25 this month. It explores what we eat in terms of the first three precepts.
This next book is a classic; an outline of the path of Buddhist practice and liberation. You will refer back to it time and again. Sangharakshita’s The Buddha’s Noble Eightfold Path outlines the process of seeing anew the possibility of your connected and precious human life, and following a path of transformation in accordance with that vision. Now on sale for £7.50.
Paramabandhu and Jed Shamel’s Mindful Emotion: A Short Course in Kindness is next, on sale now for £8.99. This offers a highly practical course in compassion. It is a skilled guide to undoing pervasive knots of self-hatred and judgement with kindness and connection.
Even though it might be possible for some Buddhist centres to open over the coming months, only small numbers of us will be able to gather in our shrine room spaces. So this month we’re offering a discount on a central resource for the Triratna community, the Puja Book. If you have one of these you can better participate in online ritual or devotional practice at home. The softback Puja book is now £7.50, and the hardback Puja book is £9.75.
And lastly, for the pure delight of it, we’ve added the biography of Dipa Ma, written by Amy Schmidt. Dipa Ma: The Life and Legacy of a Buddhist Master is a book that I keep re-reading, and it always fills me with enormous joy for her tenacity in pursuing the Dharma and her beautiful heart of blessing. Now for £7.50 this month.
We’re still offering free postage on all books (except subscriptions). And if you sign up for a free account here, you get an extra 10% off. There’s never been a better time to read!
