This event is in association with the International Triratna BIPOC/BAME Teaching Kula and supported by Buddhafield Festival.

Courageous Conversations about Race is a series of 3 discussions curated by Vimalasara where members of the Triratna Buddhist Order will be talking about race from their personal experience.

These conversations have been inspired by the recent uprisings against systemic and structural racism and the impact this has had on our Triratna Buddhist communities around the world. They are also a continuation of recent talks rooted in friendship between Viveka and Paramananda, and between Suryagupta and Subhuti (Part One can be found here and Part two here)

It’s hoped that as many institutions are reflecting on systemic racism, we as a Buddhist community can reflect on how we can make Triratna more diverse, and our sanghas more reflective of the populations that live where some of our centers are situated.

Questions will be invited from the audience. These panel discussions are open to the whole of the Triratna Community and to all who wish to attend.

There will also be a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter at this event.

More Conversations to come in the following weeks - keep an eye out here and on the Live Events page for more details

Many thanks to Vimalasara and the team for arranging conversations about BIPOC/BAME, it would be nice to see any Order member in the conversations from Indian Dalit community as well. Sudipta

Very much looking forward to this. Can you now add the link to the second conversation between Suryagupta and Subhuti?

Hi Maitrisara!
Yes, thanks for the reminder for that - I’ll do that now x

I’ve been asked if the conversation will be recorded and available for watching afterwards?

Hi Maitrisara,

Yes, the event will be livestreamed on our Youtube channel (subscribe here!) and the recording will be available afterwards - there will also be an edited version (without the unnecessary live streaming bits!) added to our channel a day or so later
