The group has been running since September 2013. It is part of the Triratna tradition.
We meet every Tuesday at 19.30 until 21.00 at the Friends Meeting House, 6 The Friars, Canterbury CT1 2AS
The class is led by an Ordained member of the Triratna Buddhist Order, Satyavasin.
We are a friendly, open and welcoming group. We invite you to come along to any one of our meetings. You do not have to be a Buddhist, some of those who attend, come for their interest in meditation. All are welcome.
Meditation can offer us many things. It can help us with the stresses and strains of life. It can help us with anxiety and depression and it can help us be more with ourselves. It is a practice that can help us begin the process of realizing our fullest potential.
Each week we practice one of two meditations;
The Metta Bhavana Practice, is a meditation practice which helps us develop Metta or kindness for ourselves and others. It encourages us to be more accepting and forgiving of ourselves and aids us in transforming resentment, anger and hatred.
The Mindfulness of Breathing Practice, is a meditation practice which aids and helps us develop awareness of our mind, our motivations and our actions. It enables us to become fully awake to ourselves.
Meditation instruction is given each week and there will be guidance on meditation too. In addition there will be a short talk on an aspect of the Buddhas teachings.
After a refreshment break we have a discussion about how Buddhist teachings are relevant to contemporary life.
We suggest a donation on the day (dana) of £5 (students £3) if you are able to.
