Warming up for BAM: marking Triratna's 50th anniversary

Dear friends,

In just over 2 months our Triratna Buddhist Community will mark the 50th anniversary of its founding on April 6th, 1967.  I hope many of you will be able to join in with your Sangha at your nearest larger Centre for the day for the celebrations.  ​
 
All over the world Triratna Centres and Groups will gather to celebrate and many will already have developed plans for the day.

Peace meditation resources

If you are considering doing a public meditation for peace, here some resources you are free to use, adapt, change in any way you wish. With parliament planning to decide this year whether to spend £100 billion on renewing the UK’s nuclear weapons’ system, Sangharakshita’s call for peaceful action for nuclear disarmament seems more relevant than ever  (link to his talk in the idea document).

It might be nice for all those holding a sit to share their event on Facebook as well...

Join the Triratna Sustainable Buddhist Centre scheme

A growing number of Triratna Buddhist centres have already completed the ten-point action points entailed in joining the list of certified Sustainable Buddhist Centres: Amsterdam, Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Colchester, Essen, Metta Vihara, Norwich, Sheffield, Taraloka and Tiratanaloka.

Why now?

In 2016, parliament will vote whether to replace and modernise the UK’s nuclear weapons system called Trident. It’s made up of four submarines – one of which is on patrol at all times - carrying up to 40 nuclear warheads on board. Each of these warheads is eight times more powerful than the atomic bomb which was dropped on Hiroshima.
