At last night’s vigil in support of refugees, representatives of Seacoast faith communities (Jewish, UCC, Quaker, Buddhist) personally thanked Senator Shaheen for her opposition to the House bill which calls for halting admission to Syrian and Iraqi refugees. Sen Shaheen wasn’t there, but her staff member welcomed us warmly and posed for a photo.

There were about 20 people present at the Dover vigil. Other vigils took place in Nashua and Manchester.

Hurrah! It works! :) You can see general notes on using discussions on this post.

ps. If you are getting too many email notifications, you can turn them off and just use the ‘my sangha’ feature whenever you log on to keep up to date (you’ll see a count of new posts beside your name top right of any page, just like facebook). Better still, you can switch to a daily or weekly digest. We send a daily or weekly newsletter to you (weekly messages come on a Sunday) with details of the posts made to any space you have chosen to connect with.

To enable digests, just hover over your name top right of any page and choose ‘my profile’. Scroll to the bottom and set your notification preferences there. (In the next version of The Buddhist Centre Online we’ll be adding the ability to set these on a per-group basis rather than site-wide.)

pps. To review the terms of use for the site (and this group) - especially the spirit in which we ask online sangha members to conduct discussions - please take a look at our Community Guidelines.

Really great to hear this! So encouraging at a time of such polarisation around the issue in our State.
