2013 marked a turning point for Akashavana as our most full and fruitful year to date. Since March we have welcomed over 100 mitras and Dharmacharinis on our two ordination retreats, five Order retreats and as volunteers. It’s been a rich experience not only for the community, but also for the women coming here for their first time, or as return visitors.
All the help offered by our volunteers allowed us to make great strides on preserving the buildings and making them even more beautiful and practical. We’d like to extend a big THANKYOU to everyone who helped in making it a successful year at Akashavana.
How you Can Support our Efforts
We’d like to increase our standing orders in 2014. We currently have 15 standing orders resulting in a total of 270 pounds. If you aren’t already giving to Akashavana, please consider putting in a standing order with us. Funds from standing orders will help us on future projects such as building a solitary facility, water storage, and solar water heating. Please get in touch if interested by emailingcommunity [at] akashavana.org
Join us in 2014
Whether you’ve been to Akashavana before, or want to experience this beautiful and magical place for the first time, volunteering with us is a great way to connect with the project and contribute to continuing to establish conditions for women in our movement and order to deepen our going for refuge. Please get in touch if interested by emailingcommunity [at] akashavana.org
In the context of our full retreat program me for next year, these are the retreat opportunities for Dharmacharini’s at Akashavana in 2014 that are currently planned. Go to www.akashavana.org for more information and how to book.
