This conference will explore why Dr Ambedkar embraced Buddhism and why he encouraged his followers to do the same. We will look at how Buddhism is practised in India now, and how it has changed the lives of many of its followers. We will ask how Dr Ambedkar’s understanding of Buddhism can influence Buddhist practice all over the world, and we will examine what the future holds for Buddhism in India.
As followers of Dr Ambedkar living in Europe, your attendance, input, and perspective are vital to the success of our programme. We have endeavoured to ensure room for exchange of ideas, networking opportunities and a taste of Buddhist practice. We will provide an Asian vegetarian lunch which will afford us more social time together.
The conference is being held at the West London Buddhist Centre, Royal Oak House, 45A Porchester Road, London W2 5DP. The closest stations are Royal Oak, Bayswater, Queensway and Paddington.
